A residential community, with the remainder of the area dedicated to parks and open spaces.

Welcome to Rancho Penasquitos

Rancho Penasquitos is a San Diego County suburban neighborhood. The name Rancho Penasquitos comes from the county's initial Mexican land grant, and Penasquitos means "small cliffs" in Spanish. Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Carmel Mountain Ranch, and Sabre Springs are nearby neighborhoods.

It is a place of residence for about 50,000 people and provides housing options ranging from the $200,000s to around $1,000,000 for higher-end properties.

Rancho Penasquitos encompasses approximately 6,500 acres, including a portion of Black Mountain Regional Park. This Planned Urbanized Community's property has been allocated as about 51 percent residential development and 34 percent open space and parks in the City of San Diego Progress Guide and General Plan.

Despite its proximity to downtown San Diego and the shore, the area offers lots of shopping, eating, and outdoor leisure opportunities for residents to enjoy.
